Mamaearth Rice Water Shampoo Review

Product Claims: Enriched with Fermented Rice Water, Keratin, and Wheat Protein, it’s a shampoo that’s targeted to repair the damage, reduce split ends and prevent breakage.
Ideal For: Dry, Damaged Hair.
Texture: It has a typical shampoo texture. A medium consistency clear gel type.
Fragrance: It has a pleasant shampoo scent. It smells nice and subtle. Nothing overwhelming and doesn’t linger much post washing. The brand claims to have IFRA Certified Allergen Free Fragrance.
My Experience: I have straight fine hair with oily scalp and dry lengths. I wash my hair once a week usually, or a maximum of twice. I tend to use coconut oil throughout the week to tame my frizzy hair. Nothing like a champy but just a few drops here and there.
The first time I used this I felt this didn’t clean the oils on my hair. I used a big coin size of the shampoo. It didn’t lather much, just like most sulphate free shampoos. I rinsed it off the first time and repeated a second wash. I towel dried my hair and further let it air dry. However, it took forever to dry because my hair was still oily. The shampoo wasn’t able to remove all the oils from my hair.
In subsequent washes over the next two weeks, I used this shampoo whenever I didn’t oil my hair. This time it worked pretty well. It left my hair clean and bouncy. It didn’t aggravate my hair problems like hair fall & dandruff.
Overall, I would classify this as a mild sulphate free shampoo that doesn’t strip off natural oils from the scalp. It’s suitable for those who don’t oil their hair heavily or who work out and are looking to wash the sweat on their scalp frequently.

Mamaearth Rice Water Conditioner Review

Product Claims: Enriched with Fermented Rice Water, Keratin, and Coconut Oil, it’s a conditioner targeted for damage repair.
Ideal For: Dry, Damaged, Frizzy Hair.
Texture: It has a typical conditioner as well. A thick, gel-cream texture that’s white in color.
Fragrance: It’s not something that leaves you a mark. It has a pleasant fragrance though. Again, this claims to have IFRA Certified Allergen Free Fragrance.
My Experience: I was a no conditioner person until a year ago. I started experimenting with conditioners and hair masks to tackle my dry lengths and breakage due to that. This Mamaearth Rice Water Conditioner fared well in that department. I use a coin size amount of it after shampooing. From the ingredient list, I can say that it’s silicone-free. Despite that, it has a medium slip and spreads quite well on damp hair. I leave it on for 2 to 5 minutes and rinse it off. The conditioner leaves my hair lengths intensely nourished, silky smooth, and soft to touch. I certainly liked its after-effects. The only con for me was, it weighed down my fine hair a little bit. Overall, it does what it claims to repair the damage.

Final Verdict

The Mamaearth Rice Water Shampoo doesn’t work for oiled hair, otherwise, it’s a pretty decent shampoo for gentle cleansing. The conditioner, on the other hand, is good for leaving your hair smooth and soft. Overall, the combination of both worked decently on me. But it’s not something that I’d like to repurchase.
